Engineering Research Assistant (6 months)

The company

HexagonFab is a recent spin-off company from the University of Cambridge. Our mission is the development of next-generation sensors for rapid point of care testing.

The role

Based at our labs in Cambridge, UK, you will be involved in the development of a novel nanomaterial-based sensor for the detection of pathogens at the point of care

Your responsibilities

  • Designing and fabrication of a nanomaterial based Chemical Field-Effect Transistor
  • Optimisation of the device layout and improvement of the fabrication process for increased robustness and yield
  • On a day to day basis, you will work closely with an interdisciplinary team including engineers, chemists and clinicians
  • The experimental work will be carried out within the cleanroom facilities in Cambridge, UK

Minimum requirements

  • MSc in Engineering, Physics or related field
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated with initiative and drive

Preferred experience

  • Previous experience with MEMS fabrication in a cleanroom environment and device testing is welcome
